This is my GD library version..:

    gd-2.0.28 - Release 4.4E.1

One of my customers needs bmp support for this library, How can activate the bmp support for the GD ?

    I use RHES4.

    My phpinfo tells me:

    gd
    GD Support enabled
    GD Version bundled (2.0.28 compatible)
    GIF Read Support enabled
    GIF Create Support enabled
    JPG Support enabled
    PNG Support enabled
    WBMP Support enabled
    XBM Support enabled

The "WBMP" is the "bmp" support that I'm looking for or my programmers are failing with their code.. ??

    thkz!

WBMP is wireless-bmp (i.e. wap) and I don't think they are the same format as normal .bmp files. Not sure about GD but ImageMagick i think supports BMP (though bmp is not the popular format on web due to bloated sizes).

    running from ssh:

    gdlib-config --features
    gives the following:

    GD_XPM GD_JPEG GD_FREETYPE GD_PNG GD_GIF

wbmp is for wap ... i could be wrong.

Check this (looks like BMP is not supported ;-)

Try any other means as mentioned there on the following url if working with bmp is desired, ImageMagick being one of them.

Yep, wbmp images are funny little black and white creations suitable for two-colour mobile phone screens - almost obsolete these days!

I'd agree with using ImageMagick to sort things out. I used this in a PHP-based image thingy to convert BMP images to, well, anything useful really.

As a side note, I've noticed that the memory required for server-side tools called by PHP scripts is not always (perhaps not at all) included in the memory limit for a given script.

For example I was testing out a PHP script which had a memory limit of 8 meg and yet it managed to call ImageMagick so as to try and convert a 3-layer 3000x2000 pixel PSD image to 24-bit PNG - the ImageMagick process quite obviously requiring more than 8 meg for the task (yes, not a particularly common use of ImageMagick, but then that's the point of testing - nearly killed the server, btw!)

Have been dealing with other GD issues all evening. Not sure this will help, but it's worth a read.

    http://www.boutell.com/gd/manual2.0.33.html#index

use find with this to get to the section on WBMP: gdImageCreateFromWBMP(FILE *in) (FUNCTION)
