For some reason my $_GET values are being escaped (or at least " -> \"). Obviously magic_quotes_gpc is off (checked at runtime). What else can cause this to happen?

    Hello,

Is this in regards to a custom PHP application? If so, you are likely to receive more information on PHP scripting issues on websites such as StackOverflow.

    Thank you.

never mind. I've just double checked and it only happens on a script that includes WordPress' settings, so it's not server related.
