I would like to utilize a global 404 html page when a user does not have one in .htaccess defined.

I have placed a 404.shtml file in the /htdocs directory under apache and set ErrorDocument 404 /404.shtml is also enabled in httpd.conf but to no avail.

    Any ideas?
