GoDaddy Shared Hosting Email Transfer to cPanel

Hi all,

I have a client who, is using GoDaddy as their email provider (they set this up before I came on the scene), but uses me to host their domain and other assets.

Because GoDaddy's email system is flaky at best, they want to move their email service over to me. GoDaddy's shared-email servers do not support any type of export or "backup" of their inboxes, that I could find anyway.

Does anyone have any experience with copying email through various means in to cPanel/WHM's email system so they don't loose anything stored server side?

If GoDaddy's email system supports imap then you could use imapsync:
Imapsync: an IMAP migration and backup tool ( release 1.542 )

I agree with quietFinn, imapsync is a great and flexible tool to move massive amounts of email.

Thanks quietFinn! That will work, GoDaddy supports IMAP email.

Hello

Ensure you also create the email accounts via cPanel before utilizing imapsync to make sure the email account structure (username/password/maildir) is in place.
