I installed GZIP but then got the following error when I tried to restart Apache after the easyapache compile:

Syntax error on line 266 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot add module via name 'mod_gzip.c': not in list of loaded modules
/etc/init.d/httpd start: httpd could not be started

    Any ideas?

    Go on, have a guess
You need to check the apache build logs to find out why gzip didn't compile:

    /home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/build-log
