gzip: stdin: not in gzip format

tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

My MailScanner suddenly failed. When I tried to reinstall ClamAV, I found out that I can no longer (no problem previously) untar a tar.gz file. I have tried different tar.gz files and still the same.

HELP!!!

I bet I know what you've done

You've probably downloaded this file using wget:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/clamav/clamav-0.70.tar.gz

Don't do that! That's not how SF works. Click on that link in a browser and see where it takes you

Then try installing that file.

That's right. That was what I did. What a silly thing to do. I made myself panic.

I've done it myself plenty of times to know better but still gawp at the screen wondering why this stoopid file won't expand
