I'm getting another HD put in the server purely for backups. The main HD is a 60 Gb which is nowhere near full (/home = 4.8 Gb used out of 41 Gb).

Would I be okay getting a 40 Gb drive for backups and will WHM still backup onto it (I remember a mention of it being required to have more space than /home)... and also is it just files on /home that are backed up or does space on the backup drive go to conf files, logs, etc?

Approx what percentage of backup space goes to non /home files?

you can move your logs and domlogs to get more space in /usr, if you do that take a 60 or 80gb hd

Hi,
I have a 60GB main HD backing up onto a 40GB second HD,
/home is currently 9.41GB used
and my backup drive /backup is currently 12.68GB used
Hope this helps,
Thanks!

Oh just the user manuals , at one time we were making as much room as possible on /usr and /var until we realised it was the domlogs taking all the space, clients love to review stats so now on backup they can keep a few months worth.

If I set the WHM to delete the users' logs daily, will their individual stats programs still keep a record? Or will that delete all the stats that they have?

back up drive size depends on how often you are backing up as it stores essentially a copy for each interval (daily, weekly, monthly)

back woods of NC, USA
just put a big puppy in there. If you backup daily, weekly and monthly you could need it all.
