not sure on this case, but I had one account that done this and we ended up deleting it off the server and just remaking it and it was fine

Find where the bad username is in httpd.conf and then comment out that vhost and try and find out the error - perhaps readd the domain to the server.

I ended up just deleting the 6 domains and recreating them. And now is all working. But I'd like to know what happened to cause this problem in the first place. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem.. (moved here from my other thread)

the httpd.conf has been replaced with a new strange one, it has a bunch of strange and wierd users.

We've tried fixeverything, rebuildhttpdconf, and rebuildhttpdconffromproftpd and nothing has worked!

    how can I fix it?

late breaking news on my problem, my /etc/passwd seems to have reverted to sometime last month so alot of my users are missing, I've fixed part of the domains using an old backup but now this problem. I seriously hope someone will give me some kind of reimbursment, the people that were deleted were newer customers and that reflects badly on me.
