help!!! I got zombies (79) of them!!!

I can't get rid of the zombies. I restart chkservd and they all but 1 go away. Then in about a few hours they start adding up again.

mt log is like this.

ok..I can kill um' all and they go away. If I restart chkservd again I have one that grows into a hundred in a few hours.

Yea- what exactly IS the zombie process- are they http spawns going zombie? checkservd going zombie?

What exactly ARE the zombie processes prior processes of?
That would help decipher this...

every 8 minutes I get another one. I finally had to kill chkservd.

I wonder if it is interchange? I disabled it long time ago and I may have enabled it in the service manager and then disabled it. All my services are up so that isn't the rpoblem. Any clues to what this could be?

well I ran sysup and I notice this about interchange:

1:chkservd error: unpacking of archive failed on file /etc/chkserv.d/interchange: cpio: rename failed - Operation not permitted


I restart and get a zombie again ..and again and again.

Nick ?? you out there? I am stumped.

OK..like an idiot I fixed the SOB.

When all else fails just delete half the damn server and run susup and nick wil lrebuild your box for you. But now I have question...my chkservd log looks like this now.

I got interchange off in service manager.. I see now it writes a file called interchangedisabled.

My question is that enough stuff in my log? what about bind? cppop?
