Help! I have done something stupid!

    Hello all

    I am new to cPanel and am setting up my website on a server belonging to a friend. I was uploading a new index file to a section of the site that I administer, and accidentally uploaded it over the index file of my friend's personal website, which is in a different public HTML directory. I plead stupidity.

    Is there a simple way to restore his original index.html file within cPanel - I do not have access to any of his backups, and am not sure he will have one!

    No way to restore that file from where you're sitting without his backup.

    He might not have a backup of his website handy, however the server administrator should have one (if he has enabled daily backups). Tell your friend to contact his hosting company and they should take care if the restore.
