    Go on, have a guess
You need to check that there are no other pop3 daemons running on the server. If there are, they're likely running from /etc/xinetd.d/. Once they are disabled, restart courier with /scripts/restartsrv_courier

Could it be you're using the new mail format and not the new cppop? Try running /scripts/upcp

I assume yu have aleady done these steps as Chirpy suggested..

    vi /etc/xinetd.d/popa3d

    change to "disable = yes"

    service xinetd restart
    /scripts/restartsrv_cppop

Then it may be due to some issues on the server, which we can determine from the information you had give... I'd suggest if you are in a hurry, you should let someone to have a look into it and see what the issue is.

Ok my problem was that portsentry was running

i ran this to fix it

    /usr/sbin/ntsysv

    then unchecked portsentry

rebooted the machine and POP was working again

Having a similar problem this morning. Mail was working around midnight when I went to sleep and now POP is failing. My server runs upcp each night so Im assuming something got pushed last night that upset the POP server. I've used netstat -an to confirm nothing is running on port 110. I've rerun /scripts/upcp to make sure everything is up to date and get this:

    Exim Setup Script Version 20.0
Fetching version information from http://updates.cpanel.net/eximinstall/version (CURRENT)....Done
This is the exim 4.52 installer release number 7 for platform redhat AS-3
exim is up to date. Use eximup --force to force a reinstall

    and this

All packages are currently up to date
    Using mail permissions style: NEW

But when I run ./restartsrv_cppop I get this.

Cwd object version 3.14 does not match $Cwd::VERSION 3.11.

It looks like something updated but cppop didnt. Any ideas on how to fix this? My machine has been super stable and I havent changed anything on it for months now nor had to reboot it for over 201 days. I'd like to keep it that way. :)
