I am having trouble geting mysql backup on my server, mysql.sock disappears when I try to restart it in cpanel. Cpanel states it restarts ok, but it does not.

I get this error in the .err file:
Fatal error: Can't open privilege tables: Can't open file: 'db.MYI'. (errno: 145)

    040815 15:41:01 mysqld started
040815 15:41:01 Warning: Asked for 196608 thread stack, but got 126976
    040815 15:41:01 InnoDB: Started
    040815 15:41:01 Fatal error: Can't open privilege tables: Can't open file: 'db.MYI'. (errno: 145)
    040815 15:41:01 Aborting
    040815 15:41:01 InnoDB: Starting shutdown...
    040815 15:41:03 InnoDB: Shutdown completed
    040815 15:41:03 /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown Complete
    040815 15:41:03 mysqld ended

I checked 'db.MYI' it it exists with the correct permissions.
    -rw------- 1 mysql mysql 160768 Aug 15 15:47 /var/lib/mysql/mysql/db.MYI

    Got any tips?

    Run
    myisamchk /var/lib/mysql/mysql/db.MYI
    if it gives an error
    run
    myisamchk -r /var/lib/mysql/mysql/db.MYI

    Restart mysql from WHM
