    Hi,

    I have upgraded my Cpanel from CentOS 3.5 from CentOS 3.4, and there was a notification which tells me to do this :-

    1-mv /etc/named.conf /etc/named.conf.CENTOS35UPDATE;

    2-mv /etc/named.conf.rpmsave /etc/named.conf;/scripts/restartsrv_named

    I did the first command sucessfully, but the second one wasn't done because the file restartsrv_named not found.

    now the named services is not running, so how can i restart it again, or undo what i have done

    Thanks in advance ..

    If the file isn't found in /scripts, then you have bigger problems. run the following from command:

    /scripts/updatenow;/scripts/restartsrv_named

    That said.. do you even have bind / name servers running on this box ? where you affected by the caching-nameserver issue in the first place ? If you happened to copy an older named.conf.rpmsave without suffering the issue, you're in for bigger problems ( especially if you don't have backups ).

    There was another thread on this earlier - search is your friend! ;)

    http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=40251&page=1

    Solution that worked for us: http://www.serversphere.com/article.php?a=22

    1. Login to your admin account and su - to root.
    2. Do in bash: rndc status
    3. If you see an error, or less zones then you should have on the server, enter: /scripts/fixndc
    4. Now do: /scripts/rebuildnamedconf
    5. And finally: /etc/rc.d/init.d/named restart
    6. Now check your zones again: rndc status and you should have all zones listed.
    7. Login to WHM and check your "Server Status". You should see a green light on "Bind".
