Ive got a clients site who is having a weird issue with password protect on a folder in his site.

In cpanel there is no password protect setup

In the root folder there is no ./htpasswds folder

In the public_html and the folde rin question there is no .htaccess files but a popup box keeps coming up asking for login details

anyone have any ideas what on earth could be causing this.

would there be another place outside of his root directory which would do this???

(oh and yes the domain is definately delegated to the server)

Did you check the directory contents through FTP only? Maybe the FTP client doesn't show the .htaccess file because it is owned by another user?
