I will set up a scheduler on my windows pc to get this sqldump back from http://www.mydomain.com:2082/getsqlbackup/mydatadump.gz

however... as u know we need to authenticate before we can download...

in this case anyway to add in parameters to the url to get myself authenticated?

i am trying to achieve automative backup of my sql dumps and get it to my pc.

It's possible the standard web login will work...

    Code:
    http://username:password@www.mydomain.com:2082/getsqlbackup/mydatadump.gz

Another alternative would be to create a cron job that emails the file to your ISP address and then removes the file.

I found a free cgi that I modified a bit to my liking and it dumps the db and gzips it and emails it to me every day automatically. You shoulf go with that...

Maybe use a download manager program, that can handle logging in, to download it if you still want to use the cpanel backup. I use freedownloadmanager.org - it can login to an htaccess site... so it ought to work for logging in to cpanel.
