If you want the process of steps I would use when I was a system administrator, here is how to system administer a machine at the basic level:

    1. Log into root SSH on the machine rather than using WHM to troubleshoot the issue, then run the command top on the machine. Maximize your shell window so you can see around 40-50 processes, then watch top for around 10-20 minutes to see what processes show the highest usage.

    2. After using top, then log back into WHM and check Daily Process Logs to see what it shows in that area for high CPU, memory or MySQL usage for the various users. Correlate the users you saw running in top with the Daily Process Logs to see who you suspect is the cause.

    3. Suspend that suspect account temporarily to see the results in WHM > Suspend/Unsuspend an Account area. If the load drops during the suspension by 5 or more within 2-3 minutes, then that account is the likely cause. If this is not your account but a customer's account, contact the customer to have them optimize their site, remove scripts, or consider upgrading to a larger / more robust machine.
