    Hi Everyone,

Quick question here. I manage a dedicated server running the latest version of cPanel with RHEL 5.2 as the OS. I have less than 10 sites on the server and one of the site start having a lot of traffic this week do to SEO work perform on the site.

I have to run an instruct myself on optimizing Apache and with all the tweaks the server seems to be able to handle all the request but you can still see that the pages (dynamic content PHP 5.2.6) are taking longer than usual to load.

    Any ideas?

    Current Server Hardware:
4 Xeon Processors at 3.2 Ghz
    4 GB of RAM
    2 173 GB SCSI

    Software:
    Apache 2.2.9
    PHP 5.2.6
    MPM Worker

Note: MySQL is running on a separate box and cross connected to this one.

You mention that your sql server is separated, is the connection hooked up properly? From what I've read (never set it up), the web server has 2 nics, so that you are not using web traffic for sending and receiving SQL queries. Sounds like you also need to tweak your settings for MPM as well. What do you have for these:

    StartServers
    MaxClients
    MinSpareThreads
    MaxSpareThreads
    ThreadsPerChild
    MaxRequestsPerChild
