    My problem ended up being a stupid modification to the file /etc/host.conf which i should not have made. After i restored that file everything started working again.

    I'll say it because nobody else will, but I truly appreciate it when people come back and post their fixes, even if its from their own mistakes.

    Somebody else in the future will do the same thing and see this thread and it will save them hours of hair pulling.

    We really should encourage people coming back and posting their resolutions, even if it means admitting they made a mistake and caused the issue in the first place.

    :)

    I have the same problem on my server. I did not modify anything. Tried both R83 and latest current but none was fixed. Anyone else has this problem?

    It happened after we upgraded from Stable to 10.8.2-RELEASE 83
    It seems to be intermittent though, and goes away after you refresh the window, but it is still a problem.

    fix

    Hi All,

    I was getting similar error my looked like this:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 0 in /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php on line 351

    Notice: Undefined index: A004 in
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php on line 374

    Notice: Undefined index: A004 in
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php on line 395

    Notice: Undefined index: A004 in
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php on line 395

    Notice: Undefined index: A005 in
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php on line 374

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    followed by still more messages. Anyway, I took a quick look at horde php code and found what I believe is syntax error so I changed it and haven't had a problem since. See my modifcation below:

    EDIT:
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php

    GOTO LINE 351 AND CHANGE THIS:

    } elseif ($read{0} == '*') {

    TO THIS INSTEAD:

    } elseif ($read[0] == '*') {

    SAVE AND CLOSE.

    After I made this change and completly logged out and logged back into horde all is working properly. Hope this works for someone else.

    It's nice that you have given us a fix, which works :)

    Have this bug been submitted to Horde, or is it on cPanel's side? I don't want to make changes, especially PHP code changes to something which get's updated from another source, like cPanel, if they still have a bug in their source.

    Can someone please confirm if this bug has been posted to cPanel, and if they aknowledged it

    $read{0}

    is all over the script. If it should be [] then I don't think that {} would appear more than once but it does.

    I tried the brackets fix. It didn't work.

    I looked at the code... infinityws is right. This couldn't be the problem.

    I agree

    You take $read{} whatever that is, have to look it up. and fo this $read[0] all you are doing is turning a scalar into an array, and disabling whatever check is done.

    I agree, doesn't solve the inherent problem, just disables some checking.

    Go on, have a guess
    No idea. Have you logged a ticket with cPanel through your license provider? Have you logged a bugzilla entry if there isn't one? If you haven't done either nothing much is likely to happen.

    We did a forced upgrade to the latest stable or release build and that fixed the problem for us.
