    Dear tkoweb,

    Try changing the following settings in horde.php.

    Comment the first entry if it is uncommented. Add another entry with your password in plain text.

    //$conf[\'auth\'][\'params\'][\'password\'] = \'*****\';
    $conf[\'auth\'][\'params\'][\'password\'] = \'horde\';

    Set up your $conf[\'prefs\'] array like your $conf[\'auth\'] array. Make sure
    you created the preferences db tables.

    There could also be other causes for the same error:

    1) Didn\'t properly setup your preferences storage config, or made a typing mistake when setting them up, or omitted something important when setting them up.
    2) You have a firewall, tcp_wrappers, or database permissions which is blocking the connection to the database
    3) You are trying to connect over tcp when the database is unix sockets only, or vice versa.
    4) You have a bad username or password specified.
