host-bin.001 FILES!!!

    I just recently found, that somethin si taking up all of my space on server. There is 6GB of space an usually there wa no more than 50% taken. But now it jumped to 90% DAMN, so what i figured out... there were some pretty large files in my /var/lib/mysql dir:

    Besides myswl files for my sites there were also:

    -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 140M May 13 15:53 host-bin.007
    -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 139M May 17 15:16 host-bin.008

    WTF are this files? can i dele te them?

    You can remove those unless your running a master/slave replication setup.

    Check your mysql variables SHOW VARIABLES for log_bin, make sure it's off, or disable it in your my.cnf, by commenting it out. It's not required for normal mysql operations.

    If you changed the log_bin variable setting besure to restart MySQL in order for it to take affect otherwise it'll keep build those files again. :)

    what are those files? Someone told me that they are used to re-create databases after mysql crashes.
