Hostname?

What are you suppose to put the hostname as? do you put your primary nameserver like ns1.mydomain.com or can you just add anything.mydomain.com

The hostname of your server can be anything you like. anything.domain.tld

Go on, have a guess
Just make sure that you add an A record for anything to the zone file of your domain.tld

Also, if you change it, check that you /etc/hosts is correct afterwards.
