Recently I decided to take advantage of the hotlink protection feature. All of my htaccess files were written to reflect the exceptions (ie my other websites on a shared hosting solution). Great, that worked. But the two sites where I use Magento ecommerce had blocked header image and header logo.

BTW, disabling the hotlink feature did not remove the htaccess exceptions. I had to go back and manually delete every rewrite generated by the hotlink protection feature. What a pain. After I did that I changed permissions to 0444 so I wouldnt have to do that again.

Anyway, whats the problem with magento header images being blocked? All of the rest of my sites had all images displayed.

You might want to check the error_log entries (you can do this in cPanel, its under the Logs section) to see what the error is specifically. You're probably missing an exception or file type.
Settings are defaults.

No entries in error logs.

Hello :)

Did you check to see if an error_log file exists within the directory of the script itself and if any entries were in it?

Thank you.

You may want to consult with Magento or their support forums to see if there are any known issues. You could also install another instance of Magento in a test account to see if you experience the same problem.

Thank you.
