I have a client that's trying to ward off people direct-linking images.

We enabled hotlinking and ofcourse put the domain (with and without www) in the ignore list.
It seems to work fine, but the client cannot see the images on their own site.
Running win xp on dsl . Even tried another computer in the home running Windows 98 on dialup and same thing.

Everything works for me! Anyone have a clue ? or have encountered this before?

try this ..edit the .htaccess file with

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?sub.domain.com(/)?.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?domain.com(/)?.*$ [NC]
RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|bmp|png)$ http://www.domain.com/images/stealing.mine [R,NC]

you can enter subdomains too

make an image that says something like STOLEN IMAGE
then save it rename the ext that your NOT trying to block like how i have it in
the example

so if someone tryed to hot link to an image it would show that stolen image image instead

works fine for me
