Have a customer who had a cPanel site and was using Dovecot IMap. Their server crashed and the customer was unable to get a cPanel backup, but they did have a ftp backup of all their files. Customer had about 150 Imap folders for one email address and would like to retrieve them. I have created a new cpanel account for the user and duplicated their email address, but I'm at a loss as to how to get Dovecot Imap to recognize the new folders. I copied the folders to where they should be , but IMAP is ignoring them. It seems they need to be re-indexed before the Dovecot server will see them.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Has the user actually logged into the account yet via email client or Webmail? Assuming yes but worth asking.

In webmail the folders I manually copied over do not show up in the folders list, just the default ones that are there when a new account is created. I can add a new folder from withing the webmail, but it never sees the folder I copied over.

    Thanks!

You are correct. I had copied them to the wrong folder, but after realizing my mistake and fixing it, I can now see the copied folders in the folder list and I can subscribe to them and see all the customers old data.

    Thanks!!!
