How can i make tar file for mulitiple folders

Hi,
How can i make tar file for mulitiple folders . I have three big folders fold1, fold2, fold3 in example account. I want to make tar of those three folders with same permissions and shift them to /home/ and after small modification of example account i need to move them back to example account.
