The backup process has started, and is causing a huge performance hit. How can I disable it? I already set the backup to disable in whm, however it seems that the backup is still running as I'm seeing some large i/o.

please advice how i can override backup and stop it.

The process backup should be "cpbackup". You can kill the process using the below command:

    ps -aux | grep cpbackup

and kill the process ID that comes up

Yes, you just need to kill the cpbackup process.
