How can I tell if a customer POPed his email?

I have a guy who says his email just "disappeared", how can I check to see if POPed his email and it may have been downloaded to Outlook or something?

Check the maillog which contains the IMAP and POP session information.

Thanks, and when it says cpanelpop that means they checked it with an email client(or at least not with Neomail, Horde, or Squirrell) and what it says imapd that means they checked it with webmail or an email client setup to use imap?
