When a spammer tried to email a virus or dangerous file to my email account, Exim detected it and dropped the email. Then it sent an email notification to the spammer's non-existant email address.

How do I configure Exim so that no email notification is sent to the spammer (sender)?

Read my reply to this thread.

Please use the search function (and really make an effort to find an answer) before posting questions.

    I have searched before posting.

Your previous post is not the answer I wanted as I asked about Exim, not MailScanner. I have done what you mentioned in your previous post long before I posted this thread.

The bounced emails I mentioned are created by Exim, not MailScanner.

    Answer:
Add the following to /etc/antivirus.exim in the first line

    if $header_from: contains "Mailer-Daemon@"
    then
    # ----- drop bounces ---
    fail text ""
    seen finish
    # ----- /drop bounces ----
    endif

    Go on, have a guess
Be aware of what you're doing if you do that, though. It could mean that you don't get notified of genuine email failures and you're breaking the email RFC's by doing it.
