So I have my main domain www.sys.com (example) and I just created an Addon domain www.island.com

I was told by the hosting company that I need to use Redirect in cPanel then didnt give me any more info after that.

So I go to Redirects, enter Type 301 use the drop down and select island.com
then where it says redirects to -> sys.com

This causes an error saying it's going to create an infinite loop.

So my question is, how do I direct www.island.com to it's folder, and still keep www.island.com in the address bar instead of sys.com

Sorry for the noob question but I can't seem to find this info anywhere, even watched all the cPanel videos on Youtube but they are not exactly what i'm looking for.

Thanks all!

I you created the addon domain island.com in cPanel you do not need to do any redirection for it, it will work automatically, with & without "www".

Maybe you have created a parked domain island.com?

Hello :)

You should consider adding it as a Parked domain name instead of an Addon domain name. This document may be helpful to you:

Thank you.

I must say I have difficulties to understand what the OP is trying to do.
Is island.com supposed to redirect to sys.com?

So off that check list... an Addon Domain (island.com) will show sys.com/island in the address bar.... while a Parked Domain will just show island.com in the address bar. Correct? (if i'm reading that right)

quietFinn, for some reason part of my op was removed so let me try it again with some extra spacing...
It's suppose to say:
So I go to Redirects, enter Type 301 use the drop down and select island.com
then where it says redirects to -> sys.com / island
This then creates the infinite loop. But what I really want is, when someone goes to island.com island.com will show in the address bar instead of sys.com/island (because sys.com is the main domain)

I have not gotten any info back from my host on this yet... I will report when I do. Thanks again all!
