    Hello,

I found the option of "Enable Automatic Whitelisting" in BoxTrapper Configuration. How does it really works if I enable automatic whitelisting (for example: how many emails I have accepted from a sender will automatically add to the whitelist)?

    Thanks and best regards

    Alex

    Anyone?

I too would like to see an explanation of this, please!

I'm going to play around with it and see if I can figure it out, though. Shouldn't there be a README or a manual or help text or something? Come on!

It looks like some spam filters will auto-whitelist an account after you have accepted X number of emails from that account. But I can't see how that would work here, since you can't accept an email unless it's whitelisted in the first place!

    Anyone?

    Thanks,

I have no idea how it works, but if I was going to implement such a thing I'd make it send an email back with a confirmation link which when clicked whitelists the sender's address - the assumption being that replies to spam won't be seen by a person, so only legitimate addresses will be whitelisted.

Of course, assuming you can't find any documentation (i.e. on google) you could always just enable it and test it using a free account from somewhere.

    Hmmm...

    Odhinn,

You may be on to something here... The funny thing, is that this is how boxtrapper works anyway, so I thought it was a redundant/useless feature.

But maybe the point is that you can turn auto-whitelisting off, so you can have an email account where a sender cannot auto-add themselves to the whitelist via replying to a verification email.

If this is what it is, it would be really cool! I could see BIG uses for this, foremost being my kids' email accounts. It always worries me that even with boxtrapper, a spammer (or worse porn emailer) could reply to the verify email and end up sending spam/porn emails to my kids' accounts.

    Hmm...

I'll have to do some tests, I guess!

I still welcome any "official" explanation... anyone?
