How to adjust disk quota

    hi there,

    I have msg from server indicate warning Dive dev/hda6/ has 89% but to look at my total disk usage, I still have more than 30gig storage . Could anyone please help me to increase the quota on hda6

    here is what it show on my server Disk usage Info.

    /dev/hda7 1012M 33M 928M 4% /tmp
    /dev/hda6 7.7G 6.6G 728M 91% /usr
    /dev/hda2 7.7G 292M 7.1G 4% /

    /dev/hda5 7.7G 700M 6.7G 10% /var
    /dev/hda8 48G 14G 31G 31% /home

    is anyone know how to move files from one partition to another ? what is the command for this ?

    so easy just use the command " mv " via shell of root


    for example you want to move the file backup.tar.gz from partition home to partion root so do this




    mv /home/backup.tar.gz /root/

    thats it ;)

    my advice to you not to do anything you dont know as long as you are a newbie or you may lose your important data

    thanks for reply. Yeah I am newbie on this ...
    if I want to move file from hda6/usr to hda8/home does it effect anything ? as you see my hda6/usr filled up to 91% of the storage capacity already ... I'd like to know what impact will be if I move file from drive "usr" to drive "home"
