If you're trying to cluster together a cpanel server with a cpanel dnsonly server, all you need to do is go into WHM > Configure Cluster on your cpanel server and enter your dnsonly server's ip and remote access key, then set the status to 'syncronize'

The DNS-only servers must be accessible from the WebHost Manager in order to configure your cluster. From the shell command prompt on the DNS-only servers, run the following commands:

    Code:
    # netstat -nalp|grep :2086
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2086 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2835/cpsrvd - waiti
    # netstat -nalp|grep :2087
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2087 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2835/cpsrvd - waiti
If you do not see the cpsrvd processes listening on ports 2086 and 2087, try restarting cPanel:

    Code:
    # /usr/local/cpanel/startup
If cpsrvd is listening on ports 2086 and 2087, but you cannot access them via a browser, you may have a firewall blocking access to the WHM. The following information explains how to disable the default Red Hat/CentOS firewall, and also lists the ports that must be open on a cPanel server:

    Linux FAQ

Note that these ports need to be open not only in the server's own iptables firewall, but in any router or firewall on the networks between you and the server, including the network your workstation is on and the network in the data center that hosts the server.

Also, I recommend that, if you have not done so already, you read our DNS cluster documentation, which explains in detail how to configure a DNS cluster:

after adding the dns only i get this note on the main server

    Notes
Synchronize Changes: All changes made on this server will be replicated to any server linked to this server in the cluster. Synchronization is one-way: Changes made on the other server will not be replicated to this server unless Synchronize Changes is selected on that server as well.
Standalone: All changes made on this server will not replicated to any other server(s).

Is that the way or it should be done in both directions shud i enable synchronization
