Hi Guys,

We have a dedicated server, which is having some issues with emails ending up in spam.

We recently added valid DKIM and TXT on the domain for our nameservers, and these are now marked as valid in whm for this server.

However our PTR record value is still "static.[reverse-ip].clients.your-server.de.", which is not the same as our server name.

We think this might be the reason for emails ending up in spam, as the PTR dont seem valid, so how do we change this?

On our other servers the value is as an example cp03.domain.com, but not on this server.

Thanks!

Hello,

This is almost definitely why emails are being flagged as spam. In order to change the PTR record you'll need to contact your provider in most cases they do not delegate access to any users to make these changes.

Ok so now i got this error:

The system sends “cp02.ourdomain.dk”’s outgoing email from the “XXX” IP address. The only PTR value for this IP address must be “static.[reverse-ip].clients.your-server.de”. This is the name that this server sends with SMTP’s “HELO” command to send “cp02.ourdomain.dk”’s outgoing email.

1 unexpected PTR value exists for this IP address:

  • cp02.ourdomain.dk
To fix this problem, replace all PTR records for “[reverse-ip].in-addr.arpa” with the following record at “ns.second-ns.com”, “ns1.your-server.de”, and “ns3.second-ns.de”:

How do i go about getting WHM to use the new PTM?

I think you are right. I got "*: static.122.210.202.116.clients.your-server.de" in /etc/mailhelo

Should i delete or change this?

Our hostname is cp02.yourhostname.dk :)
