A few years ago I was hacked and it took me over a year to recover and get everything working again.

The problem was that my whm backups were corrupted because why server was running low on space.

Are there any logs I could check that will confirm backups are working correctly? How Can I test my backups without having an extra cpanel server.

I would hate to overwrite my live site with a bad backup.

Any advise would help. Thanks everyone. Server Noob here

    Howdy,

The good news is this very rarely happens. But we don't backup for the best case we backup for the worst! cPanel uses tar files aka tarballs to backup it's data. The tar file has a built in way of verifying it's a solid file. This link here should help you.

Test tar file integrity in bash

    Enjoy!
