    Hello,

We're just configuring a new cpanel server and would like to copy the settings from one of our other servers.

How can we copy the WHM packages between servers? Is there an export/import function anywhere? Or do we have to copy some text files?

    Thanks.

They are text files in /var/cpanel/packages

The multiple account transfer function will let you transfer only packages, if you so desire.

Thanks. Does this only work for root, or can resellers also copy over their packages? (We are transferring resellers, too, but want to allow them to do their own transfers whenever they're ready...

transferring pacckages from reseller to root

this is an older thread, but I have a solution for those that are trying to transfer reseller packages to root access on another server.

For some reason (I guess related to SSL) it is diffiicult to copy packages over to a new root access server from a reseller account.

Now of course you could get your provider to give you the files.
There's no other 'easy' solution,but......... if you want to do it yourself, here's a workaround,
    1. create at least one package on your new server.
    2. FTP into your root directory on your new server, and download that package at /var/cpanel/packages/ onto your hard drive
    3. Copy that package and rename each instance to your new package name
    4. Edit the contents with your fav text editor, to include the diff elements of each of yr packages
    5. upload the new packages via FTP to the new server at /var/cpanel/packages/

You can check yr packages under Edit Packages
