I understand I can create accounts in a second hard drive, say, /backup, and then link it (I think symbolic link and not hard link -what's the difference?-) to the regular /home directory so that it functions as a regular account.

Can someone take me through this, step by step, as to how to do it via WHM (and/or ssh)

    Thanx much

Symbolic links are done in SSH, but moving a site to /backup may not be a good idea. Do you use backup? Is it set to be unmounted between backups? If it's unmounted, that would make the new location unreachable. Not a good thing. ;) If you use backup, but it's not unmounted between backups, it means your backups aren't as safe as they should be.

If you still want to move a home directory to backup, here's how.

    mv /home/username /backup/username
    cd /home
    ln -s /backup/username

replace username with the actual username of course.

    While in SSH, type
    mv --help
    man mv
    ln --help
    man ln
and repeat with any other commands you can think of. That's the easiest way to learn the commands. :) Support Ticket Number:
