As a Cpanel user you cannot edit it. The admin (root) can edit it. And resellers can edit on behalf of their customers, if their reseller plan was set up to allow them access to modify DNS zones. But end users do not get that option.

You'll need to contact the place where you have bought your Cpanel account from and ask them to modify DNS for you.

Actually, you CAN edit the root, but if you do, you won't be able to delete it. And if you create a second one, thinking it'll overwrite the first, it'll only create duplicates, messing things up royally.

So the second best solution is to go through your hosting admin to change it.

The best solution is for cPanel to allow end users access to the root...

    Hello,

This thread was from 2007 and things have changed since that time, so this is why you do have an option in cPanel to edit but not delete A records. The option is called "Advanced DNS Zone Editor" and it does allow editing A records in cPanel as mentioned. Now, if that option is not available in anyone's cPanel, then you may want to ask your hosting provider about adding it.

Of note, this is a great example of why threads that are many years old may not be the ideal place to post information, since they oftentimes contain outdated details that are no longer applicable to the current product.

    Thanks.
