    Our resellers are complaining that when they log in using ftp.theirdomains.com that our hostname is displaying in the status window;

    20 ProFTPD 1.2.4 Server (ProFTPD) [ourhostname.com] <--- HERE
    Host type (1): Automatic detect
    USER myweb
    331 Password required for myweb.
    PASS (hidden)
    230 User myweb logged in.
    SYST
    215 UNIX Type: L8
    Host type (2): UNIX (standard)
    FEAT
    500 FEAT not understood.
    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory.
    etc

    How do we hide it?

Also we are running rpm 1.2.6, why is it display 1.2.4?

If you put DeferWelcome on somewhere near the top of /etc/proftpd.conf then restart it (or send the pid number a hup e.g. kill -HUP `pidof proftpd`) you will get something like

    220 ProFTPD 1.2.8 Server ready.

When you connect (obviously the version number will be different)

with regards to the 1.2.6 rpm which is a 1.2.4 i belive there maybe a mismatch of version numbers as the src rpm has a 1.2.4 tarball (or there maybe trying to do a poor mans version of the backporting stuff like rh and others do)
