Tried to establish an IRC connection thru Trillian but can't fugure out what the settings should be.
yes trillian is a bit tricky... took me a while to get it right.
Using the trillian registered version (free version is basically the same)
1) Open Trillian
2) Right click on the grey circle
3) click on connection manager.
4) Click on add account.
5) Scroll down to EFnet and choose the connection closest to you.
6) Fill in your nick, etc.
7) Click on the Perform buffer tab and check the check box. Then type in: /join #cpanel
8) click on Create and Connect.
That should work.
*** Connecting to port 6660 of server ircd.lagged.org
*** *** Looking up your hostname...
*** *** Checking Ident
*** *** Found your hostname
*** *** Got Ident response
*** Closing Link: networkol[#email@example.com] (You are not authorized to use this server)
*** Disconnected from ircd.lagged.org.
What'd I do wrong now? :p
Choose a different EFnet server.. they have a whole list of them (see my signature)
Putting Trillian on the back burner for now. Must have something wrong.
mirc, however, was a nobrainer (I resemble that remark!) Connected but didn't see any activity. Except for someone, maybe Chris, from sales.
Yeah.. there is timezone difference.. and not everyone stays in front of the computer 24/7.. so you should just wait or say something..
Wouldn't it be advantagious if we all just had 1 room? We have had a channel on irc.freenode.net #irc which nick hangs out in from time to time.
Maybe but I doubt that will ever happen unless there becomes and offical channel.
shaun declares irc.freenode.net the official channel :p
I'm in both at the moment
Eh...freenode #cpanel is dead (and so was this thread!)
efnet...irc.mzima.net, irc.servercentral.net, etc.
I'm usually lurking in EFnet #cpanel -shrug-
Why you guys have to bring back old stuff :D
Ya, ya you usually can find me on both efnet and freenode
