    Hi,

can anyone tell me how to open a port in Cpanel/WHM. I cannot send mail using email clients like Eudora/Outlook even if the authentication is checked. I ran a port scan and found that my port 25 is not open!

    Thanks

    tohi

    Hi,

I don't know how to Open a port.

But i am looking for How to Close a port.

    My namp says

    6666/tcp open irc-serv

Since i am not using any IRC, i think its better to block the port.

I think both opening, closing will be done in same way.

    Regards,

    Yujin

All depends on what firewall you're using.

As for the IRC, if you're using some sort of chat program in your server, entropy for example, its going to be opened up.

If its not open and you have no firewall, then your smtp server is A) not running or B) has had its port changed to something else (not good either way).

Its not a matter of "opening" a port, its a matter of making sure the service that uses that port is running!

If you have a firewall, then well I hope you know how to set it up or turn it off :)
