Hello,

I have 2 VPS servers, old and new, the hostname "server.domain.com" is still redirecting to the old server.
How do I redirect it to the new server ?

Thanks

You have to change the A record the hostname is pointing to at the domain registrar.

The hostname should also be set on the VPS.

Hope that helps!
In Godaddy domain setup, I changed the A record to the server IP, and in the server hostname configuration it is set to server.domain.com, I waited 24h still redirecting to the old server.

I contacted Godaddy support again today, they told me to create another A record, with the name "server" and server IP as value.

You think this is the correct setup ? or I'm going to wait another day ? Thanks

Hi,

It usually doesn't take 24 hours for the DNS to propagate.

You can monitor propagation using whatsmydns.net.

Just type in the hostname and choose record type as A record.

It sounds like you have done it correctly but I'd need to be able to log into GoDaddy to verify.

@anitasharma - I would recommend checking the DNS for the domain with a tool like intoDNS: checks DNS and mail servers health to confirm everything is set up properly there and DNS is routed to the correct system. If that is correct, there could be something in the site's code that is causing it to redirect to the old machine. If you are not able to track that down I would recommend submitting a support ticket to our team so we can take a look directly at the system for you.

Hello again, I need some more help regarding my server migration. I cannot send any email from any address of any user. The bounce back message is

I used MXToolbox and found this problem for all domain names : The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. (http://abinasrholding.com)

Did I missed some server or domain configurations in the migration process ?

I don't think you missed anything with the migration, but the IP address was likely on a blacklist before you received the server. You can check the server's IP address here for that issue:

I checked my ip if on the blacklist, but it's clean. Apparently the relay n1smtpout.europe.secureserver.net blacklisted my server.

But why MXToolbox displayed this error : The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. (http://abinasrholding.com) ??

If the relay is on the blacklist you would still get blocked by any provider using that list. I also see a 403 in the browser when trying to visit that site, that that seems more like a direct web issue than an email issue.
I talked again with Godaddy support, they unblocked my server. Now the emails are flowing again. and the 403 error turned out something else, not related to email issue.

Thank you :)
