How to redirect custom short domain to regular domain?

So I have my regular domain and am using drupal with short url module enabled.

I have my vanity custom short domain with an A record pointing to the IP of my regular domain.

However, the url listed in the browser is the custom short domain.

I need the short custom to redirect to the regular domain.

Any ideas how I go about doing that?

Example: site.ly --> example.com

First, log into your cPanel and click on the "Redirects" button under the "Domains" sub-header.

then the drop down choose the domain you want to forward, and then in the redirects to--> box put what domain you want the traffic redirected to. Once you are done, click on "Add"

There's one issue, and that is the custom vanity url is not listed as an available choice to redirect, only the regular domain is.

Does that mean I need to set up the vanity url/domain on my server? The vanity domain is registered through GD, but dedicated hosting is done through another company. Do I need to create nameservers etc for the vanity domain?
