How to remove old mdbox files after conversion to maildir is finished?

Due to some disk space usage reporting problems in cpanel, I changed a cpanel account on the server from MDBOX to MAILDIR. To be safe, I chose the option to leave the old email in case of an error during the conversion. Now I have finished testing, and everything looks good.

How can I remove the old MDBOX files?

(If anyone wants to know, the problem is that cpanel reports 9gb of disk space usage for the account, but there is only 2gb of actual mail usage. 7gb is reported in the "Other Usage" according to the cpanel disk usage utility.)
