How to restrict cPanel / FTP access to one IP address

I tried to log in to my site cPanel (a standard shared hosting on Linux account) and was informed that the account had been blocked due to a brute force attack being detected.

When my web host reinstates access, is there any way that I can restrict access to a) cPanel and b) the FTP upload account, to just my own IP address? If I can't do it, is there something I could ask the host to do that would achieve this?

I already have a feature request in for such functionality. You can vote for this at:

Offhand, the only thing I can think of is the web hosting provider relaxing some of the brute force settings. However, due to security concerns, I wouldn't expect the hosting provider to relax those settings unless they receive many customer complaints about their settings.
