How to search apache logs from a few days ago

I have reason to belive one of my sites on my cpanel server is not secure and a hacker placed a perl script in the /tmp folder of the server a few days ago and executed it today. Hows the best way to check the old weblogs to see what account this came from?

I tried the command

$cat /usr/local/cpanel/domlogs/apache/* | grep *dc.pl*

Where the file in the /tmp folder was dc.pl but that turned up nothing.
