I have just rented a site from a web-host, but I have absolutely no idea how to begin. I have a cpanel. First thing first, how/where do I set up the front page of my site?

(Sorry, I'm really new in webhosting, & of course there should be an 'r' at the end of my username  )

Questions such as these should generally be asked of your host, so you could always try asking them for a beginner's guide.

Nevertheless, you can use a feature called File Manager from within cPanel to upload files to your site - just pop your index.html in your (pre-existing) public_html directory.

Alternatively, and possibly prefereably, you can use a process called FTP to manage files within your web space. Googling "FTP tutorial" will reveal a horde of information!
