How to set up local network

Need help on how to set up local network

I have a local server that every user can connect it and share the same printer and file. I'm replacing one of user's laptop. For this new laptop, I can map to any drive on that server, but I can't see the entire network. That means if I click on my network place, nothing shows there. How do I connect this laptop to the local network group? Any suggestion?
