How to setup so FTP goes directly to public_html?

I have many clients who are newbies at web hosting and they keep accidently uploading files into the root directory instead of the public_html directory. Is there a way to configure cPanel/WHM so that when a new account is set up, FTP is configured to automatically load files into public_html?

Thank you.

Nope. The problem is you need all of the home directory to store things such as email.

Perhaps do a better welcome letter that points it out in bold?

It really can be a headache trying to help new users figure out simple things that are well documented. You could also try doing some sort of flash demo on ftp uplodaing.

new ftp account setup

Hello,
You need to create new ftp account with the directory public_html .
When you have create new ftp account by using cpanel<<ftp account then enter into the "Directory:" filed only " public_html" .:)
