How to sticky my home dynamic IP address in cPHulk Brute Force whitelist?

Hi,

I am receiving a bunch of "Large Number of Failed Login Attempts" daily. I keep on filtering them in cPHulk Brute Force blacklist.

I then added my home DSL main IP address to the whitelist. That is a dynamic IP address so it can be changed at any time and I am afraid I may loose access to the cpanel.

How do I make sure to avoid myself being blocked in this type of situation? I don't know if I can use my local ip (192.168.X.X) as a static IP and add to the whitelist.

Please advise.

You can't use your local IP. You must use the DSL IP - find it easy at whatsmyip.org.
You can add C/B class to the allow list to be sure that you will not be blocked.

Anyway if you enter the correct user&pass the cPHulk will not block you.

Thanks for the advice. I tried login to Cpanel from the none white listed location but I was not able to login although I was using the correct password. It was not in the blacklist either. I then had to add it to the white list group. Thats my true experience last night. I will test from one more different location tomorrow.

Tested. It did NOT work although I entered correct credentials.

I think the IP address has to be in White list in order to get in. I has not received any "Large Number of Failed Login Attempts" notification for that IP address.

I am adding it to the white list and will test it out tomorrow again.

Can any one from Cpanel Support let me know if this is what supposed to happen, please? I don't think I will need to open a ticket for this question.

Tested again as mentioned above. I was ABLE to login through the white listed IP address.

I am still waiting for Cpanel Support to respond so everyone who using their software will get same helpful info.

My concern is still remain as what if my home dsl ip is changed as I mentioned in my first post.

Hello,

You could not use your local private IP as a whitelisted IP for cPHulk Brute Force Protection. If you need something that will allow dynamic IP whitelisting of this nature, you would need to use CSF which has the option instead:

Thanks for your response and advice but can CPanel's cPHulk Brute Force Protection be able to whitelist the machine hardware (MAC) address instead of we having install CSF or struggling with Dynamic IP address?

It cannot whitelist the hardware address either. It isn't that difficult to install CSF nor to add the option in CSF for dynamic IP address whitelisting.
