How will cpanel handle upgrade from RedHat 7.3 when it is EOL'ed end of this year? Will cpanel support upgrade of the system to the newest version of redhat? Will it be an inbox upgrade or is it a migration?

Just do a redhat upgrade and run /scripts/upcp and cPanel will rebuild everything that needs it.

You might need to run /scripts/exim4 as well

So later on this year "/scripts/upcp" will upgrade our version of redhat as well?

If so what version will it upgrade to(8,9)?

No. He said and. Meaning you upgrade red hat firstly then run /scripts/upcp and it will update cpanel with support for your new red hat version.

Oh I see, should have read the post a little slower.

Does anyone know what "/scripts/distupgrade" does? It looks like it performs an OS upgrade.

    Do not use that

It's still in test stage. I've tested it and it's very easy to screw it up and then your really screwed. :)

There's some of us that are doing this right now over at rackshack. Right now people are using either up2date or apt to upgrade redhat. There's a few snags along with way so give yourself say 2-4 hours of time to complete the whole thing and let your customers know about this.

*Also note that there IS a possibility to hose the system so make sure you back up first!

I just completed the upgrade process and as of right now I'm trying to get cpanel and email working. Everything else, to include whm is fine. :)
